Frequently asked questions

What does an assessment consist of?
The asssessments, with parent/caregiver present,
are both free of charge, obligation free & take less than an hour.
They start with the child being asked some specific questions
about their educational journey, followed by the parent/caregiver being asked similar.
This is followed by a quick, basic eyesight test
which leads into a maths, reading, & spelling assessment.
These results are then shared & discussed with parent/caregiver & child.
Assessments can be booked either by phone or email
& are usually held on a Wednesday night at 6:30pm

How long is a session & what does it cost?
The weekly sessions are 80 mins. (1 hr. 20 mins.) and cost $55,
on the basis of weekly attendance over a full term,
or completing the term if they join part way through.
As their spot is held open for them this fee is regardless of whether they attend or not.
If spots are available it may be possible to make up for a missed session at an alternate time.
Extra sessions may be possible by arrangement.
We observe all school and public holidays - these are not charged for.

Is there homework?
Yes - most of the students (excepting the youngest ones) will get
approximately 30 mins. worth of homework per week
- this keeps their learning fresh in their minds.
It is recommended to be done within a few days after their session,
leaving it until the last minute before their next session gets poorer results.

What resources do I have to supply?
Nothing - everything is included,
however it is wise to give your child a snack before attending,
a hungry child finds it difficult to concentrate.

Can I book in advance for a later term?
Yes we have a waitlist based on a first come, first served basis.
Why are B.E.C. fees lower than many other tutoring service providers?
Being an independent business, rather than a franchise,
enables the Centre to keep our fees low
and word-of-mouth recommendations keep our advertising costs down.
